Lithium – Thionyl Chloride (Li-SOCl₂)
Thionyl Chloride Lithium batteries (Li-SOCl₂) are non-rechargeable primary batteries that use thionyl chloride (SOCl₂) as the electrolyte and metallic lithium as the negative electrode. They are renowned for their very high energy density, low self-discharge rate, and ability to operate in extreme environments. These characteristics make them ideal for industrial applications, long-term measurement devices, smart meters, and aerospace.

Characteristics:
- The highest energy density of all Lithium systems.
- Very high cell voltage (3.6V).
- Very wide operating temperature range (-60°C to +150°C).
- Ideal for low consumption or long-term applications.
